We finished up our Leaving Well series last week, focusing on your health and wellness, with some suggestions for self-care during your work transitions.

Today, we wanted to remind you that it’s ALWAYS a good time to take care of yourself.

Tending to your physical, spiritual,
and emotional health is critical,
so that you can live with energy,
success, and satisfaction.

As you look through the suggestions below, think about where you’re doing well (great job!). In addition, consider any areas where you might want to focus a bit more.

Physical health comes from tending to your body with intention and compassion, with things like sleep, movement, and food.

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Go to bed 15-30 minutes earlier than normal.
  • Put healthy food at the front of your fridge so you see it first.
  • Stretch your body whenever you think about it.
  • Take a 10-minute walk outside.

Spiritual health comes from feeling connected to something larger than yourself that brings you a sense of meaning and purpose.

  • Grab moments of solitude.
  • Jot down your gratitudes daily, and then share them with others.
  • Meditate for 5 minutes each morning or evening.
  • Spend time outside.
  • Attend a church or other spiritual service.

Emotional health comes from connection, compassion, love, and genuine caring for yourself and others.

  • Read something that interests you, before bed or at lunch.
  • Take a 5-minute break to sing and/or dance.
  • Call or text a loved one just to say hello.
  • Watch something funny with a friend and laugh until you cry.
  • Color, paint, sketch . . . let your mind be unconstrained by the rules.

Life is moving fast, and we know you have lots on your plate. Our hope is that these suggestions will give you some simple ideas to take care of your health and wellbeing.

As we mentioned last week, look for moments to PAUSE and breathe throughout the day. In these moments, check in with yourself on your physical, spiritual, and mental health.

Take good care of yourself. The world needs you!
