In our Better Together post last week, we referenced our definition of leadership and the importance of reciprocal influence. We suggested it as a framework to help you remember to lean in and work together with people versus creating environments of “US vs THEM”.

As a reminder, our definition of leadership is this:

Leadership is the willingness to influence your world
and the willingness to be influenced by your world,
regardless of your role or title.

For close to 30 years, we’ve worked with this simple formula to help individuals, both personally and professionally, step into their leadership.

We continue to be passionate about changing the way people think about leadership, so today, we’re launching a new series that dives into reciprocal influence in more detail.

Next week, we’ll share with you what we mean by influencing others and allowing others to influence you. Then, over the following two weeks we’ll dive into what reciprocal influence could look like for you, both personally and professionally, in these areas:

  • Healthy Boundaries
  • New Relationships
  • Uncertain Times
  • Problem-Solving
  • Messy Conversations

Think about some great conversations you’ve had where you were influencing others AND being influenced by others. After that encounter, maybe you felt motivated or engaged to create something great, together. Let’s do more of that!

We encourage you to look for more opportunities, this week. Where can you show up as a leader who shares their best and also invites others to do the same?

Join us next week when we’ll take a deeper dive into what our definition does and does NOT look like.
