As we finished up our Wellness Nugget posts last week, we heard from some of you that it’s just too hard right now to think about your own wellness.

You cannot do one more thing, think one more thought, or respond to one more request – let alone think about self-care. Your work is busier than ever, your kids hate virtual school and need constant supervision, your parent or loved one is homebound and requires extra support, the dishwasher broke, the dog needs surgery…and the list goes on.

Something’s gotta give!

You cannot keep going at this pace and stay healthy and sane. Given your reality, our question to you is, “What is possible? How can you get even just a little self-care into your moments?”

If you remember, we repeated one bullet in all three of the wellness nugget posts because it’s easy and important: Pause and Breathe. What would it take to do this on those days when you cannot do one more thing?

Pause and Breathe.
Some days, that’s all you can do to tend to your needs.

The research on pausing and breathing is powerful. It signals to your brain that things are ok. It interrupts high cortisol levels, lowers blood pressure, and gets oxygen flowing. All of which support a healthier you. On days when you do have just a bit more space, think about how you can focus on a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.

Here’s what we suggest:

  1. Pause and breathe.
  2. Write down the 2-3 most important things for the upcoming week(s).
  3. Identify 2-3 things to delay, stop doing, or (better yet) delegate to another person.

Again, if you don’t have the space today to do these three things, just remember to Pause and Breathe. You’re worth it!

Let us know how it goes – we care about your wellness.
